This was a racist newspaper which began before the Civil War and continued until a few years after the war. Given this, the front page illustrated item makes some sense despite its objectionable theme. The top of the ftpg. has: "NEGRO SUFFRAGE" with the article making light of a print in Harper's Weekly which was in favor of Negro suffrage. See the text and the two prints.
Eight pages, rejoined at the spine, toning at the central fold, nice condition.
