Ray Chapman's skull fractured...

Item # 649782

August 17, 1920

THE NEW YORK TIMES, August 17, 1920

* Ray Chapman skull fractured
* Cleveland Indians
* Only MLB baseball fatality

The sport's section (page 14) has a one column heading: "CHAPMAN SUFFERS SKULL FRACTURE" with subheads and box scores. (see) Ray Chapman is the 1st and only baseball player to be killed as a result of a major league baseball game. He would die on this day. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete with all 32 pages, light toning at the margins, irregular along the spine, otherwise nice.
