* Thomas Jefferson & Paine

Page 2 has a nice report on Thomas Jefferson & his relationship with Thomas Paine including: "A few days since, the Aurora poured out its wrath on the Republication editors for representing Mr. Jefferson as having frequent & friendly intercourse with Tom Paine...a tacit acknowledgement that it would be derogatory to the character of Mr. Jefferson & to the dignity of his office to become the companion & confidante of a man so vile & infamous..." with more. Thank another item begins: "The Aurora calls Mr. Jefferson one of the patriots who survived the revolution...Of all the kind-hearted and benevolent men whom we have yet heard of, Mr. Jefferson surly has the highest claims to our esteem & veneration..." with more.
