THE NEW YORK TIMES, April 12, 1927

* Johnny Sylvester guest of honor (cancelled)
* Babe Ruth - New York Yankees

The front page has a related report on perhaps the most famous off-the-field story on the legendary Babe Ruth. The two column article is headed: "Johnny Sylvester Won't See Yankees Play; Babe Ruth's 11-Year-Old Friend Not So Well". See photos for text on Johnny's cancellation of attending opening day at Yankee Stadium. As most baseball fans know this is the story of Johnny Sylvester, an 11 year-old  deathly ill, to whom Babe Ruth promised a home run in the World Series. Ruth came through with 3 home runs --and as the story goes--causing the boy to recuperate, saving his life. Great to have in this famous NYC title
Complete in 56 pages, light toning at the margins, a little irregular along the spine, generally in very nice condition.
