* Californio bandido
* Los Angeles outlaw
Page 4 has a very detailed & lengthy report of the capture of the infamous bandit Tiburcio Vasquez. Vasquez was a Mexican bandit who was active in California from as early as 1857 until his capture. The Vasquez Rocks, the steep, sloped rocks about 40 miles north of Los Angeles, were one of his many hideouts and received their name from him.
The top of page 6 has the heading: "VASQUEZ THE OUTLAW" "Particulars Of His Capture" "He Is Surprised In Ben, Jumps From A Window, Is pursued, Wounded Thrice, and Taken". The text takes 1 1/3 columns and offers much detail. See the web for more on the life & career of Vasquez.
Page 9 has a curious article headed at the top of the page: "CAPT. KIDD'S TREASURE" "The Mishaps Of Little B. Who Searched For It" "An Account of the 'Kidd Salvage Company'--Its Promoters, Its Operations, and What Came of Them." with the text taking 1 2/3 columns.
Eight pages, browning at the margins, 4 binding holes near the spine affect 2 words in the Vasquez article, otherwise nice condition.
