January 29, 1820

THE LONDON GAZETTE, England, Jan. 29, 1820  The front page is black-bordered for the death of the 4th son of King George III. The ftpg. begins with: "Orders for the Court's going into mourning on the Sunday next...for His late Royal Highness the Duke of Kent & Strathern, fourth son of His Majesty...The Ladies to wear black bombazines...The gentlemen to wear black cloth..." with more detail. The balance of the ftpg. is more on proper mourning attire.
Ironically, King George III would die just two days later. Great to have this content in this title, the official mouthpiece of the Royal Court.
Complete in 22 pages, 7 1/4 by 11 1/2 inches, small slits at the blank spine margin, great condition.
