Item # 648555

August 29, 1820

NEW-HAMPSHIRE PATRIOT & STATE GAZETTE, Concord, Aug. 29, 1820  Page 3 has a report on the Constitution of the State of Missouri, beginning: "The important instrument, the Constitution, was finished on the 17th of July, engrossed on parchment the next day, and was to be signed in the afternoon of the same day. Of particular interest is mention that the document was ordered to be printed in English and French. Says that a national salute fired by the St. Louis Guards will signal ...the time of its signature...". It also mentions the suggested name for the new state capital to be Missouropolis.
Four pages, minor loss at the blank spine, nice condition.
