A quite rare four page pamphlet without a title but the heading at the top of the first column is: "Governor Johnstone's Speech, with the Answer and Reply" which has much concerning the Revolutionary War in America, but with talk of events in Europe as well. A few bits include: "...On the first movement of our troops Washington must have crossed the Susquehannah & left all those plentiful regions to our forage...provisions came into the town in the greatest abundance. I have heard much of the starving & various distresses..." and further on: "...As to all the dreadful consequences of famine or surrender of the army which the noble Lord has enumerated, supposing Monsieur D'Estang had got possession of Sandy Hook...I have been informed that by driving Long Island there would have been found six months subsistence for the troops..." with so much more, including a chart of the various British ships near Rhode Island (see). The back page includes: "Lord Howe's Answer to Governor Johnstone and the Governor's Reply".
Complete in 4 pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, some foxing to the front page. It is not dated but was bound into the front of a January-June, 1779 volume of British newspapers.
