April 10, 1847

THE FLORIDIAN & JOURNAL, Tallahassee, Florida, April 10, 1847

* Rare pre-Civil War title
* Mexican War

A nice & rare opportunity for a very early newspaper from the capital of Florida. Very rarely are we able to find antebellum Florida newspapers, particularly from the capital. This issue has some very notable Mexican War content on pages 2 & 3, the first headed: "GLORIOUS NEWS" "Capture of the City and Castle of Vera Cruz" with other heads including: "Further Particulars" "Important Documents" "Official Report--From Gen. Taylor's Camp" which includes 3 dispatches signed in type by him: Z. Taylor, and one signed in type: Ant. Lopez De Santa Anna; "The North and the South" "General Scott at Vera Cruz" "Tariff in Mexico" "The War"
Four pages, slightly irregular at the spine, very nice condition.
