December 27, 1947
THE NEW YORK TIMES, December 27, 1947
* Blizzard of 1947 (1st report)
* New York City snow storm
The front page has a nice banner headline: "RECORD 25-INCH SNOW CRIPPLES CITY AND EAST; ALL TRAFFIC SLOWED, LONG ISLAND IS DISRUPTED; THOUSANDS MAROONED; FOOD AMPLE, FUEL SHORT" with subheads and photo. Much more inside. Great to have in this famous NYC title. Nice for display.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 28 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Very nice condition.
