THE NEW YORK TIMES, sport's section only, November 11, 1928

* Army vs. Notre Dame college football
* Coach Knute Rockne
* 'Win one for the Gipper' fame (1st report of win)

This sport's section only from the New York Times has it's own title page and has one column headings on the front page that include: "NOTRE DAME BEATS ARMY ELEVEN, 12-6, AS 85 LOOK ON" "O'Brien, in Game for One Play, Takes Pass Over Line to Win in the Last Quarter" "FIRST HALF SCORELESS"  and more with nice action photo. (see). Reporting continues on page 5  with another related photo and lineups. Lengthy 1st report coverage.  This was the game that had Notre Dame as big underdogs and was famous for Knute Rockne's famous 'Win one for the Gipper' speech at halftime.
Other sporting news of the day. Complete sport's section only with all 8 pages, irregular along the spine, otherwise generally nice.

*****************THIS IS A INCOMPLETE ISSUE OF THE FAMOUS NEW YORK TIMES, ONLY HAVING THE SPORT'S SECTION, STILL A DISPLAYABLE AS SUCH WITH ALL IMPORTANT MATERIAL PRESENT.******************
