Item # 647976 THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, January, 1784  Among the articles are: "Causes of the Increase of Villainy" "Doubts Started Relative to the Gunpowder Plot" "Complete List of Stamps Alphabetically Digested" which takes over 4 pages; "Summary of Proceedings in the Fourth Session of the Present Parliament" which takes 14 pages; and even more.
Near the back is the latest news of the day including half a column of "American Affairs" (see photos).
Both plates called for are present, one of which is a foldout. This periodical was the first ever to use the word "magazine" in its title.
Complete in 76 pages, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, with a full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate.
