THE WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Oct. 2, 1813  The front page is taken up with a very descriptive article: "Lakes Erie, Huron and Michigan" the text beginning: "The splendid victory over the British force on Lake Erie by commodore Perry & the expected movements of the north-western army...produce much inquiry for the geography of that portion of North America..." with the very descriptive article taking all of pg. 2 as well.
Also inside: "Law of the United States - An Act Laying Duties on Licenses to Distillers of Spirituous Liquors" taking a pg. and signed in type by the President: James Madison. This is followed by 2 1/2 pages on: "Barbarities of the Enemy".
Three pages are taken up with: "Events of the War" which include: "Military" "Blockade of the American Coast" "Naval" mentions comm. Rodgers capture the British brig Cruizer; also a letter from Comm. Perry to the Sec. of the Navy signed by him: O.H. Perry; "Blockade of the Chesapeake" "Blockade of New London" and more.
Included also is an 8 page "Supplement" issue which includes: "Sketches of La Plata" "British Depredations" "The Friendly Indians" accompanied by a lengthy letter signed: Wm. Henry Harrison dated at "Seneca towns". "Revolution in Mexico takes over an entire page & begins: "Friends of the Mexican cause! The independence of Texas, a desideratum long looked for & greatly wished by all nations except Great Britain & Spain in Europe, is at length accomplished! After a long & tedious warfare, I have happily succeeded to erect the standard of union & liberty in the capital of Texas!..." with much more & is signed in type: Bernardo Gutierez (see).
Complete in 16 pages, 6 1/4 by 9 3/4 inches, evening toning, otherwise in very good condition.

This small size newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
