July 12, 1936

THE NEW YORK TIMES, sport's section only, July 12, 1936

* Jesse Owens 100-meter & broad jump
* Olympic games in Berlin Germany tryouts
* To be in front of Adolph Hitler & Third Reich

The top of the front of this section has a very nice banner headline: "OWENS WINS 100 AND BROAD JUMP AT OLYMPIC TRYOUTS" with subheads and nice photo. (see) Nice for display. The Olympics would begin just a few weeks later.
A sidebar to the Olympic games was Adolph Hitler's refusal to acknowledge the achievements of the African-American athletes, not surprising given his belief that only his superior German Aryan race would dominate at the games.
Other sporting news of the day. Complete sport's section only with all 10 pages, light toning at the margins, good condition.
