January 22, 1814

THE WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Jan. 22, 1814  Much reporting from "Congress" includes letters signed in type by James Madison, John Q. Adams and James Monroe. Also: "Events of the War" is nearly 2 pages of reports from the on-going War of 1812 including subheads: "Traitors--Actual & Moral" "Flag of Truce" "the Niagara Frontier" "The Heroes of the Lakes" "The Negociation" "The Battle of Erie" "Com. Perry" "General Orders" by Edw. Baynes; and more.
Complete in 16 pages, 6 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches, a little lite rubbing on the front page, otherwise in generally good condition.

This small size newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
