June 04, 1928

THE NEW YORK TIMES, June 4, 1928

* Woman aviator Amelia Earhart
* About to make history
* Airplane "Friendship" - 1st stage flight

Less than 13 months after Charles Lindbergh's heralded accomplishment, Amelia Earhart became the first woman to achieve the feat. The front page has a nice four column headline that announces: "BOSTON GIRL STARTS FOR ATLANTIC HOP, REACHES HALIFAX, MAY GO ON TODAY" with subheads and photo. Weather would delay her from finishing the journey for about 2 weeks. Much more on page 2 with three more related photos. Loads of text. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 44 pages, irregular along the spine, generally nice.
