THE NEW YORK TIMES, October 10, 1923
* New York Yankees World Series
* Opening day of the 1st game - 1st year as champions
* 1st year at Yankees Stadium - Babe Ruth
* Best title to be had ?
The front page has a one column heading: "60,000 WILL SEE GIANTS PLAY YANKEES" with subheads. (see) More in the sport's section (page 17). This was to be the first year the Yankees became World Series champions. It was also their first year playing at Yankee Stadium, "The House That Ruth Built". Great to have in this famous NYC title.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete with all 44 pages, a little spine wear, small tear along top margin, generally nice.
wikipedia notes: In the 1923 World Series, the New York Yankees beat the New York Giants in six games. This would be the first of the Yankees' 26 World Series championships (as of 2008). The home field alternated each game, a noted difference to the 2–3–2 format.
