DETROIT FREE PRESS, June 20, 1947
* 1948 sedan "Torpedo"
* 1st introduced
* Preston Tucker
The top of page 29 has a photo of the much-hyped and revolutionary automobile produced by Preston Tucker, headed: " 'Torpedo' In Elaborate Debut" with the caption beneath the photo: "This is the Pilot Model of the Tucker 48. Unusual design features rear engine." (see) The same page has an article headed: "Tucker Plans Output of 1,000 Cars Daily" however only 51 were ever produced.
Great to have this report in a newspaper from "motor city" even though the car was produced in Chicago. In 1988 a movie was made about Preston Tucker and his car titled "Tucker: The Man & His Dream".
The complete issue, disbound, very nice, clean condition.
