THE NEW YORK TIMES, January 6, 1920

* Babe Ruth sold to New York Yankees

Page 16 has one of the most historic and sought-after banner headlines for any baseball collector, reading: "RUTH BOUGHT BY NEW YORK AMERICAN FOR $125,000, HIGHEST PRICE IN BASEBALL ANNALS". The first column subheads include: "Yanks Buy Babe Ruth For $125,000" "Highest Purchase Price in Baseball History Paid for Game's Greatest Slugger" "Will Get New Contract" "Miller Huggins is Now in California to Sign Home-Run King at Large Salary" "Slated For Right Field" "Acquisition of Noted Batsman Gives New York Club the Hard-Hitting Outfielder Long Desired" with the text, and related subheads, taking 1 1/2 columns.
Included as well is a boxed section on: "Largest Sums on Record for Purchase of Ball Players" with Ruth at the top, followed by Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, and 7 more (see).  Not only is this a significant report on baseball history, but terrific to have it in the New York Times. One for the best of collections.
Complete in 40 pages, disbound, slightly irregular at the spine, a few small & discrete archival mends inside to unrelated pages, very nice condition.
