THE NEW YORK TIMES, Oct. 28, 1929

* Stock market crash of 1929
* During the heart of the crash
* Best title to be had ?

The stock market crash of 1929 did much to define America for the next decade, resulting in the Great Depression and all the trauma relating to it. It seemed common for many newspapers to put a positive spin on the on-going tragedy, so front page reports often conflicted with the reality of the time.
Given that the stock exchange is in New York City, the "Times" remains one of the most desired of all newspapers on the crash. The front page has one column heads: "WALL STREET HUMS ON THE DAY OF REST TO CATCH UP ON WORK" "Hustling Messengers, Scores of Automobiles and Busy Clerks Disrupt Sabbath Calm" "Congress Action Unlikely" "Most Houses Clear Books" and more.  Reporting continues on page 16 as well. As was typical with other newspaper reports of the day, the press tried its best to give a sense of calm & optimism during this tumultuous week.
This was the week of the historic stock market crash, the first big drop happened 4 days prior and the other huge drop the following day, or "Black Tuesday". A notable issue from this historic week and great to have in the venerable New York Times.
Complete in 48 pages, disbound, in very nice, clean condition.
