DAILY DISPATCH, Richmond, Virginia, Aug. 22, 1861
* Battle of Wilson's Creek, Missouri
* From the capital of the Confederacy
Not just a newspaper from the Confederacy, but from the capital of the Confederate States of America. The front page has a lengthy item concerning the state of Maryland as it relates to the Civil War, beginning: "Of the slaves states yet attached to the despotism of the North, probably the people of Maryland are the least responsible for the degrading position she now holds as a subjugated province..." (see).
Page 2 includes over 1 1/2 columns on: "The Great Battle In Missouri" "Accounts From Both Sides" which is the Battle of Wilson's Creek, as well as: "Richmond & Henrico in the War" "From Norfolk" "and reports from the: "Confederate Congress" along with other smaller items.
Page 3 has many reports on the Civil War, too many to mention here.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, loss to an upper corner does not touch text, generally nice condition.
