CHARLESTON DAILY COURIER, South Carolina, May 17, 1864

* From the origin of the Civil War

This was one of just a few newspapers which printed "Confederate States of America" in the dateline. Among the front page reports on the Civil War are: "From General Johnston's Army" "Movements of the Enemy!" "Every Attack Successfully Repulsed!" "Our Loss Small!" "From the Southwest" "Unconditional Surrender of Banks" "Massacre of Confederates at Vandalia" "The War In Virginia" "The Enemy on the Outskirts of Richmond--Fighting on the Brooke Turnpike--Latest from General Lee's Army--Movements on the South Side"  "The Great Battle in Virginia" and more.
The back page is entirely taken up with advertisements & notices. Complete as a single sheet newspaper, very nice condition.
