THE CONNECTICUT JOURNAL, New Haven, Sept. 8, 1779 A nice newspaper from the midst of the Revolutionary War. Most of the ftpg. is taken up with discussions in Parliament which include talk of America including: "...wished to learn what was the present object of the war with America? How it was to be carried on, where, and with what? the force now in America, he presumed, could not in reason be adequate to the conquest of that country when a much larger had failed in the attempt..." with much more (see for portions).
Page 2 has reports from "Charlestown" with some war-related items, and a letter from "Augusta, dated July 5, 1779" which has various military reports (see).
Page 2 also has a letter beginning: "Lord Cornwallis, Lord Howe, General Howe...have declared their opinions in the most positive terms in Parliament that a conquest of the United States of America is impracticable..." with more (see). Also reports headed "Fish-Kill" "Boston" "Providence" and "Worcester" carrying over to page 3.
Most of the back page is taken up with ads. Complete in four pages, never bound nor trimmed (desirable), some browning at folds and minor damp staining, generally a very nice issue from the middle of the Revolutionary War.
