A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. Among the front page reports concerning the Civil War are: "The Prisoners" "The Firth Virginia Regiment in the Battle of Manassas" which takes over a full column; "The Fate of Tyrants" "Execution of Thos. J. Armstrong in Phila." and other items include 2 ads under "Runaways" (see).
Good Civil War coverage continues on the inside with: "Commercial Independence" which takes a full column; "The Revenue Service" "Holmes' Brigade" "Hospital Supplies for the Army of the Northwest" "Looking Ahead" "Proclamation of the President" concerning alien enemies, signed by him in type: Jefferson Davis (see); "Regulations Respecting Alien enemies" "War Rumors" "The Great Battle in Missouri--Further Extracts from Northern Journals--Incidents of the War, etc." "Major Walton's Official Report" on the Battle of Manassas, and more.
The back page is mostly advertisements but does has an item: "Generals Beauregard and Johnston" (see). Complete in 4 pages with a banner masthead, very nice condition.
