September 25, 1760

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Sept. 25, 1760

* French and Indian War
* The Cherokee War
* Archibald Montgomerie

Page 2 has nearly a column of reporting headed: "America" with datelines from Boston and Crown Point containing nice reports on the French & Indian War, a few bits including: "...an English sloop had demolished a small French fort...We hear that the Indians behaved well...& carry on trade very peaceably...from the army at Oswego...that General Monckton, from Fort Pittsbourg [Pittsburgh] had joined General Amherst at Oswego...to proceed on the intended expedition against Montreal..." and so much more (see).
But the best content would be the terrific and very detailed account of the Montgomery Expedition which was part of the Cherokee War (see hyperlink for more). This report begins on page 3, takes all of page 4, and over one-third of page 5, detailing the day-by-day accounts of the expedition against the Cherokees (see for portions).
Eight pages, 8 by 10 1/2 inches, bit close-trimmed at bottom affects a few words in the report noted but no loss of readability, very nice condition.
