July 23, 1861
THE SOUTH EXTRA, Baltimore, July 23, 1861 - 11 o'clock.
* First Battle of Bull Run
* Manassas, Virginia
* Rare broadsheet extra
A terrific broadsheet "Extra" of this short-lived newspaper which had sympathies towards the South, hence the title. It reports the historic Battle of Bull Run with ftpg. column heads including: "THE WAR "The Great Battle" "THE LATEST" "The Great Battle" "Further Interesting Details" "The Killed and Wounded" "The 'Grand Army' To Be Reorganized". Included is a: "List of Killed and Wounded at Bull's Run, Thursday, July 18".
War-related reporting continues on page 2 including more on Bull Run.
Complete as a single sheet issue, some wear at the central fold, some bkpg. archival (and non-archival) mends, minor margin tears. Generally nice condition.
