Review & premiere of "Napoleon Dynamite", in a Los Angeles newspaper...
Item # 645803
June 11, 2004
LOS ANGELES TIMES, June 11, 2004
* Best "Napoleon Dynamite" advertisement
* Grand Opening Day movie premiere review
* Comedy cult classic - Jon Heder
A terrific issue on the premiere of the motion picture hit "Napoleon Dynamite" and perhaps no better issue could be found than this, the leading newspaper from the home of the entertainment industry - the Hollywood area's prime publication.
Note: Where else might one find authentic, poster-size ads for Opening Day showings, in the most desirable Hollywood-area newspaper - as we were lucky enough to obtain this (and others) indirectly from the Los Angeles Times' own collection? It simply doesn't get any better! In over 40 years of collecting, we have yet to see such unique & dramatic coverage with truly top-shelf, eye-catching displayability (see images).

Page 7 of section f has a 3/5 page advertisement for the film printed on it's opening day with it's review on the same page. Notice the advertisement is upside down.
Note that the movies "Garfield The Movie", "The Stepford Wives", and "The Chronicles of Riddick" also opened on this date with nice advertisements (see images). An ad for an early showing (pre-premiere) of "The Terminal" is included, along with large ads for "The Notebook", "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", and "Shrek 2" - although these were not opening day showings.
A quite rare issue as it would not have been saved since it contains no historically significant content. Present are the complete sections 1 and F totaling 72 pages. Great condition.
