GLEASON'S LITERARY COMPANION, Boston, June 6, 1863
* Heraldic eagle masthead engraving
* Uncommon title
* Civil War era original
The masthead features a very large heraldic eagle with a 7 inch wingspan holding in its beak a banner with the title. Mostly filled with literary items including a ftpg. story: "The Pirate's Legacy, A Tale of the Present War" by Lieut. C.P. Morgan, U.S.N., with a print of 3 sailors. Inside has a comical print captioned: "I licked him till he yelled like a puppy." showing a woman in a soldier's uniform whipping another soldier with an umbrella (see). A short article: "Power of Music In Battle" is nice (see).
Sixteen pages, 11 by 15 inches, great condition.
