THE MONTHLY MAGAZINE, AND AMERICAN REVIEW, (New York), May, 1799 We find it quite difficult to find any 18th century American magazines, let alone once this scarce, which lasted from just April, 1799 (making this vol. 1 #2) to December, 1800 for a total of just 21 issues published.Among the articles within are: "On Almanacks" "Description of the Cityi of Morocco" and more. There are reviews of recent books including; "New Views of the Origin of the Tribes & Nations of America" "Description of the Settlement of the Genesee Country in the State of New York" "Skirmishes, Battles & Other Military Events during the American War" and much ore. Near the back is: "Miscellaneous Articles of Literary & Philosophical Intelligence" with recent news.
Eighty pages, lacking a full title page (included is a copy of the page from Mott's "History of American Magazines" verifying city of publication, etc.), 5 by 8 1/2 inches, nice condition.
