Review & premiere of "Titanic", in a Los Angeles newspaper...
Item # 645389
December 19, 1997
LOS ANGELES TIMES, Dec. 19, 1997
* Best Titanic film advertisement
* Grand Opening Day premiere
* Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet
A terrific issue on the premiere of the motion picture hit "Titanic" and perhaps no better issue could be found than this, the leading newspaper from the home of the entertainment industry - the Hollywood area's prime publication.
Note: Where else might one find authentic, poster-size ads for Opening Day showings, in the most desirable Hollywood-area newspaper - as we were lucky enough to obtain this (and others) indirectly from the Los Angeles Times' own collection? It simply doesn't get any better! In over 40 years of collecting, we have yet to see such unique & dramatic coverage with truly top-shelf, eye-catching displayability (see images).
Page 12 of section F has a review of the film, headed: " 'Titanic' Sinks Again (Spectacularly)" with a color photo on the ftpg. of section F. The article carries over to page 14 and includes a photo. And perhaps just as significant is the terrific, color, poster-like advertisement for the film which consumes two pages (see).
A quite rare issue as it would not have been saved since it contains no historically significant content.
Also included is another dramatic double-page ad for the James Bond 007 action thriller, "Tomorrow Never Dies".
Present are the complete sections A and F totaling 76 ( of 168) pages. Great condition.
