THE AMERICAN MUSEUM, Philadelphia, May, 1790

* A scarce American magazine title
* Much on Benjamin Franklin post death

Given that Ben Franklin died in April, it is not surprising that this issue has much on him. Among the articles within are: "Letter from Dr. Franklin to Michael Hillegas, Respecting covering Houses with Copper" signed in type: B. Franklin (see). Followed by: "Letter from the same to Samuel Rhoads on the same Subject" dated 1770, signed: B. Franklin. Also: "Information to Europeans who are Disposed to migrate to the United States..." takes over 7 pages.  And "Letter on the Effects of lead upon the Human Body. From Dr. Franklin to a Friend" datelined "Philadelphia, July 31, 1786" (see for beginning) & signed: B. Franklin. And there are two more letters signed in type: B. Franklin. Also an article: "Short account of Dr. Franklin's last Illness, by his attending physician" (see for portions).
Complete in 76 pages, never-trimmed margins (desired), full title/index page, the Appendix is not included, 5 1/4 by 8 3/4 inches, some staining to margins near the back, small piece from an upper margin of an inconsequential leaf, very nice condition.

Magazines from America of the 18th century are exceedingly difficult to find. This was one of the more popular titles of the 1790's, complete with the full title/index page.
