THE GLOBE, South Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, July 26, 1909  Page 8 has over a full column taken up with reporting the historic first flight across the English Channel, a feat which many predicted would never happen for many years despite a prize offered by the Daily Mail newspaper (first offered in 1908, then extended to 1909).
