LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED, New York Sept. 20, 1890 The front page has full-length portraits of: "Oliver S. Campbell, Champion Of The United States" and "H. W. Slocum, Jr., Ex-Champion", both in tennis attire of the day and each holding a tennis racket. Caption: "The National Lawn-Tennis Tournament On The Grounds Of The Casino, At Newport, Commencing August 27th." A related report inside: "The National Lawn-Tennis Tournament". Another page has a very nice print showing a tennis match in progress (see).
