DAILY MISSISSIPPIAN, Jackson, July 9, 1862 Certainly one of the more rare Confederate titles we have offered, in fact I would guess we have not seen more than 5 or 6 in the last 41 years.
Page 2 has an editorial on: "The President's Address to the Soldiers of Eastern Virginia" referring to Jefferson Davis. Also inside: "Bombardment of Vicksburg", an editorial: "The Climax Reached" "Canal Opposite Vicksburg" "The Great Battle - Incidents of The Fight" is on the Battle of Gaines' Mills; "Celebration of Our Victory on James Island" and more.
Four pages, some water staining & foxing, wear at margins and a 1 by 2 1/4 in. ad clipped from the bottom of the back leaf. This is a volume 1 issue.
