THE NEW YORK TIMES, June 27, 1928

* Woman aviator Amelia Earhart makes history
* Flight across the Atlantic Ocean
* Airplane "Friendship"

Page 14 has one column headings: " MISS EARHART BUYS LADY HEATH'S PLANE" "Plans Tour of America in the Machine That Flew From Cape Town to England" and more with two photos. (see) Coverage on Amelia Earhart being the guest of honor in England just after her famous flight across the Atlantic Ocean. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 52 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Nice condition.
Note: While the major historic events in Amelia Earhart's life can be read about through multiple venues (books, newspapers, magazines, etc.), many of the more obscure events can only be found within a handful (at most) of daily newspapers of her day. Yet, it is these reports which add color to one of the most beloved personalities of the 20th century. Thankfully, the New York Times was one of the few publications which emphasized such reports.
