THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, March 23, 1782

* Making peace with America ?

Most of page 4 is taken up with a letter concerning the Revolutionary War, beginning: "Your motion for making peace just now with American, and the plan of it, has raised the admiration of great numbers...your scheme is excellent & must of course be sincere...When the messengers of peace, who are to be sent to America, are to be chosen..." with much more on thoughts of who should negotiate, and how. A great letter.
Page 6 has a letter "To General Cornwallis" questioning his actions in America (see for beginning), it taking two-thirds of the page. The bkpg. has a short bit: "Paul Jones is said to be engaged by Congress to take the command of a small fleet of frigates which are to cruise upon the Banks in quest of our Quebec and West India trade...". Uncommon mention of the famed John Paul Jones.
Eight pages, 9 by 12 inches, never bound nor trimmed, very nice condition.
