GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, February, 1778 The first article is: "Lord North's Propositions for Peace with America" taking over 4 pages. There is also a very lengthy item: "Extracts from the Congress Accounts of the Northern Expedition" which takes over 6 pages with terrific reading & includes a letter signed: "Horatio Gates" (see photos). There is great reading in: "An Account of the Transactions in America during the last Campaign" which is very good on George Washington & General Howe in New Jersey and the Chesapeake area (see for portions). A report from Annapolis that Gen. Howe made propositions of peace in Congress. Other American items as well.
Nice full title/index page features a wood engraving of St. John's Gate (see photo). Measures 5 by 8 1/2 inches, with 40 pages. Very nice, clean condition. Lacking plates called for.
