A page 2 item headed "America" has brief reports from Philadelphia, New London, and Hartford, one item noting: "...were lately taken up on suspicion of entertaining sentiments unfriendly to the American states..." (see photos). This is followed by reports from Quebec with some reports of naval encounters (see).
Most of a column is taken up with an excellent letter from a Scot concerning the position of those from Scotland on the Revolutionary War, noting in part: "...I cannot bear to hear the whole Scotch nation accused of being friends to despotism & particularly of being zealous abettors of the present measures carrying on against America..." and further on: "...some Scotchmen here...who continue as firm & determined friends to American liberty...a very considerable part of the Scotch nation are staunch friends to the American...have a rooted aversion to the present scheme of subduing, or as they, perhaps, term it, enslaving America..." with more (see).
Another page has a report with minor references to the Revolutionary war mentioning in part: "...yesterday Gen. Burgoyne lately arrived from Quebec...Gen. Burgoyne, we hear, has brought private letters from Gov. Carleton for the King & for the Lords North and Germaine."
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, nice condition.
