THE MEMPHIS DAILY APPEAL, Tennessee, July 9, 1876  The top o f the front page has many one column heads on the most significant battle of the Indian War period from after the Civil War, including: "THE CUSTER MASSACRE" "Official Report of the Engagement Which Resulted in so Overwhelming a Disaster--The Sioux in Strong Force" "The Brave and Daring Custer Evidently Counted Without his Host--Reno's Narrow Escape--Preparations for Revenge" "Position and Condition of Crook's Forces--The Indians Uneasy--Don Camcron's Communication--Sketch of General Custer"
These column heads are followed by extensive reporting on the massacre (see photos). Complete in 4 pages, various old tape mends in the bottom & right portions (see photos), and some fraying at the bottom margin and minor loss to the bottom portion of the blank spine, not affecting any text.
