THE EXAMINER, Louisville, Kentucky, August 11, 1849  A quite scarce newspaper anti-slavery newspaper which lasted but 2 1/2 years, from June, 1847 thru December 9, 1849  Page 2 has much content concerning the recent election and the slavery/anti-slavery issue and candidates. One article; "Not a Defeat but a Delay" begins: "No Emancipationist ought to be discouraged by the result of the late elections..." and another begins: "The defeat of the emancipation candidates for the Constitutional Convention in this city, will doubtless excite the surprise of many of our readers...". Another article: "Comparative Profits of Free and Slave Labor".
Four pages, small binding holes at the blank spine margin, some foxing at the folds, good condition.
