THE DAILY POST-BOY, London, May 23, 1728

* Convicts to American plantations

The front page is a terrific item noting: "The government are about contracting with the proper undertakes for transporting the felons, convicts, being about 80 in number, to his Majesty's Plantations in America."." Although it was known that convicts were occasionally shipped off to the American colonies, it is exceedingly rare to find such mention in period newspapers.
Single sheet, 8 1/2 by 15 inches, handsome engravings in the masthead, very nice condition.
