August 21, 1779

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Aug. 21, 1779  Included is an: "Extract of a Letter from Rhode Island dated May, 1779" which includes in part: "...Very recent accounts from the Susquehannah inform us that a party of Col. butler's  loyalists and Indians had cut off the settlements at Penn's valley, and afterwards retired without losing a man." (see)
Nearly two-thirds of a page is a great letter signed "Americanus" which begins: "I will not trouble you with a detail of the unparalleled sufferings of the people of America during the present unhappy commotions...every sense capable of pleasure or pain is constantly upbraiding them with their folly in withdrawing their allegiance from the Mother Country..." and further on: "...what is to be done in the present situation of affairs to bring the people of America back to their allegiance to the Crown?..." with so  much more (see).
Complete in 8 pages, 8 1/4 by 11 inches, in very nice, clean condition.
