February 19, 1863

DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, Feb. 19, 1863  A very nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy, the city to which all war-related news would flow. The front page includes: "The Position Of Kentucky" "Resolutions of the Kentucky Legislature--Arrangement of the Federal Administration--Her Regulation In Congress Called Upon To Oppose Any Further Aid In Prosecution of the War" and "Additional From The North" "The North Carolina Legislature" "The Negro Brigade--Conscription of the Negro Troops--The Forts to be Garrisoned By Them--General Hunter's Attack on Army Sutlers" "Later From New Orleans" and a few other smaller items.
The back page includes the always interesting editorial, this one beginning: "The enemy threatens attack on three points: Vicksburg, Tullahoma, and Charleston..." with further thoughts on each (see). Most of the rest of the bkpg. is taken up with various reports from "The Confederate Congress" and "Virginia Legislature", as well as over a column of ads & notices.
Complete as a single sheet newspaper with a full banner masthead. Various ink spots to the front page, never bound nor trimmed, generally in very nice, clean condition.
