January 25, 1820

THE LONDON GAZETTE, England, Jan. 25, 1820

* George III of the United Kingdom
* Death of his 4th son - best title to have

The front page is black-bordered for the announcement of the death of the 4th son of King George III, the page reading: "Yesterday morning, at ten o'clock; departed this life, at Sidmouth, after a short illness, His Royal Highness Edward Duke of Kent and Strathern, His Majesty's fourth son, to the great grief of all the Royal Family." The remainder of the ftpg. has notices concerning the official mourning (see). Ironically, King George III would die just six days later. Great to have this announcement in this title, the official mouthpiece of the Royal Court.
Complete in 22 pages, 7 1/4 by 11 1/2 inches, small slits at the blank spine margin, great condition.
