Truly Confederate newspapers from New Orleans are very difficult to find, as Admiral Farragut entered the mouth of the Mississippi in mid-April, 1862 and finally took New Orleans on April 28. Shortly thereafter Benjamin Butler moved in and took control of the city, it surrendering without a fight. So "Confederate" issues from New Orleans are limited to those published between Louisiana's secession from the Union on January 26, 1861 and the end of April, 1862, just a brief 15 month period.
The front page is almost entirely taken up with: "THE BATTLE OF MANASSAS" "Official Reports of Generals Johnston and Beauregard". It begins with the: "Report of General Johnston" which takes half the page, then the: "Report of Gen. Beauregard" taking most of the remained of the page, with a note: "To be concluded in this evening's Delta". The ftpg. concludes with a small report: "Engagement at Valasco".
Page 3 has other war reports including: "Federal Troops for Ship Island" "Northern Intelligence" "From Lincolndom via Richmond" and a bit more. Pg. 3 is taken up with ads including runaway slave ads. The bkpg. includes the: "List of Vessels That Have Run the Blockade" and: "From the Seat of War In Virginia" with more.
Four pages, toned throughout, various short archival mends inside, archival strengthening at the blank spine.
