The top of pg. 3 has column heads on the Kentucky Derby. The winning jockey was Willie Simms, an African-American. He also won in the 1896 running as well. His name is only mentioned in the results (and misspelled; see). Heads include: "Kentucky Derby Won By Plaudit" "Aristocratic Son of Himyar Defeats Lieber Karl in a Grand Race" "Thousand Witness the Event" with more (see).
Eight pages, even toning, good condition. Should be handled with care.
