THE NEW YORK TIMES, February 5, 1936

* Wilhelm Gustloff assassination
* Nazi leader in Switzerland
* Croatian Jewish student

Near the bottom of the front page is a two column heading: "German Nazi Leader in Switzerland Slain By Jewish Youth to Avenge Persecution" (see) First report coverage on the assassination of Wilhelm Gustloff, Nazi leader in Switzerland, by David Frankfueter, a Croatian Jewish student. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 40 pages, light toning with a little margin wear, generally good.

wikipedia notes: The German cruise ship MV Wilhelm Gustloff was named for Gustloff by the Nazi regime. The ship was sunk by a Soviet submarine in January 1945 in the Baltic Sea while carrying mostly civilian refugees from the advancing Red Army. More than 9,000 lives were lost, the greatest death toll from the sinking of a single vessel in human history. The disaster remains relatively little known.
