ILLUSTRATED LONDON NEWS, England, Nov. 7, 1857

* SS Great Eastern under construction
* Color prints - engravings

A terrific issue on the ship "Great Eastern", which was by far the world's largest ship at the time of her launch in 1858 (see hyperlink). The front page shows: "The Leviathan 'Great Eastern' Steam ship Stern & Boss for the Blades of the Screw" plus text on it. Inside has a full page print; "Bow of the Leviathan 'Great Eastern' Steamship During Time of Building".
Of very special interest are 3 color prints of it, the first a full page captioned: "The Great Eastern On The Stocks", another full page also captioned: "The Great Eastern on the Stocks", and the very best being the terrific doublepage foldout of: "The Great Eastern Afloat". Typically these 3 color prints--particularly the foldout centerfold--have been removed from this issue. Not only are all 3 present but they are in very nice condition (see photos).
Complete in 24 pages, very nice condition.
