THE SPECTATOR, New York, Feb. 26, 1800

* USS Constellation vs La Vengeance
* United States vs. French Navy frigates
* Action of 1 February 1800

Page 3 has a great report on the naval battle between the USS Constellation and the French frigate La Vengeance, a single-ship action during the Quasi-War (see Wiki for details). It was a victory for the U.S. Navy with this report headed: "Huzza For Truxton!" "Official" with a letter signed in type by: Thomas Truxton, introducing the victorious action, and then followed by a much more detailed account of the battle, also signed in type: Thomas Truxton. Pus there is a third letter signed by him offering thanks to his officers and crew.
Four pages, bit of foxing, very nice condition.
