THE WORLD, New York, May 13, 1864

* Battle of Spotsylvania VA Virginia
* General Robert E. Lee
* Gen. Ulysses S. Grant's famous quote

The front page has nice first column heads on the Civil War including: "THE GREAT STRUGGLE" "More Magnificent Fighting" "Lee Reported Retreating with Heavy Losses" "Deadliest Battles of History" "Sherman Drives the Enemy to Buzzard Roost" and much more. The first report of the ftpg. is a dispatch from General Grant which includes the famous quote: "...I propose to fight it out on this line if it takes all summer. The government is sparing no pains to support him." (see) Great to have this quote on the front page.
Eight pages, nice condition.
